cial concerns arise about fire safety. They Might Be Monkeys! wants to help you address these concerns. Our Urban Wildland Interface Specialists have advanced training from both the Texas Forest Service and the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection in the management of wildfire risk. Reducing the risk and intensity of wildfire in UWI areas has been an important issue for our clients. We can help you develop a plan of action to reduce fire risk on your property.The Texas plains and hill country evolved with fire and are dependent on it. Many native plants have developed a reliance on fire to germinate seed and keep competitors at bay. Land use over the last 100 to 200 years has altered the natural forest composition and created opportunity for highly volatile plants to gain a foothold in our native woodlands. This change has had an impact on fire behavior, wildlife, and the natural watershed. Through proper management, our UWI areas can be safer, healthier and more productive environments for ourselves and the plant and animal life that evolved here.
A UWI assessment will help you do the following:
* Reduce the likelihood that your property will become an ignition point.
* Reduce the speed and intensity of an approaching wildfire.
* Promote survivability of your woodland and landscape if a wildfire passes through.
Plans will include the reduction of ground and ladder fuels, removal of invasive species, and thinning highly volatile plants. We cannot eliminate wildfire risk, but we will help you create a healthy, fire-resistant, livable habitat for wildlife composed of carefully selected, native vegetation.
