Trees and construction
Trees struggle when forced to live through construction or expansion of buildings, pavement and sidewalks, swimming pools, etc. The obvious damage such as broken branches or gashes in bark from equipment are bad for trees, but much worse is the hidden damage to roots that occurs from trenching, vehicle traffic, or piling materials in the root zone. Often, the damage does not become visible in the upper canopy of the tree for 1-7 years after the project is complete.
Treating construction damage after the fact is difficult and often not very successful. To ensure the best results for your trees, call a TMBM! arborist to review the plans before work begins. We will help you make informed decisions about which trees to keep and how best to protect them through the construction process. A small investment up front can save you from spending lots of money later in an attempt to save (and possibly replace) trees that may not be salvageable.
